τίς ποκ᾽ ἀπ᾽ Οὐλύμποιο μετάγαγε παρθενεῶνα,
τὸν πάρος οὐρανίοις ἐμβεβαῶτα δόμοις,
ἐς πόλιν Ἀνδρόκλοιο, θοῶν βασίλειαν Ἰώνων,
τὰν δορὶ καὶ Μούσαις αἰπυτάταν Ἔφεσον;

ἦ ῥα σὺ φιλαμένα, Τιτυοκτόνε, μέζον Ὀλύμπου
τὰν τροφόν, ἐν ταύτᾳ τὸν σὸν ἔθευ θάλαμον.

Who was it that transported the maiden's chamber,
that once stood in the celestial palace, from Olympus
to Ephesus the city of Androclus, the queen of the
Ionians, swift in battle, most excellent in war and
letters? Was it thyself, slayer of Tityus, who,
loving thy nurse l more than Olympus, didst set thy
chamber in her ?
