εἴ τινα μὴ τέρπει λωτοῦ † χέλυς,^ ἢ γλυκὺς ἦχος
ψαλμῶν, ἢ τριγέρων νεκτάρεος Βρόμιος,
ἢ πεῦκαι, κῶμοι,^ στέφανοι, μύρα, λιτὰ δὲ δειπνῶν
λαθροπόδας τρώκταις χερσὶ τίθησι τόκους,οὗτος ἐμοὶ τέθνηκε † περὶ μνῆστιν δὲ παρέρπω

If there be one who does not take delight in the

playing, or in nectareous wine, oldest of the old, or
in torches, revels, garlands, and scent, but who takes
a frugal supper and stores up with greedy hands the
fruits of stealthy-footed usury, to me he is dead,

weasands of others.
