Texts

— Paton edition

My cruel-hearted mother, an evil mother to me —
it pains me much, the wound that a mortal man
inflicted on me — in the dark night when other
mortals sleep — naked, without a helmet and shield,
nor had he a spear — and all his sword was bathed in
hot blood — but afterwards he sent forth a gentle and
harmless gale.
