Τιμονόη, τίς δ᾽ ἐσσί; μὰ δαίμονας, οὒ σ᾽ ἂν ἐπέγνων,

στήλῃ, καὶ Μήθυμνα τεὴ πόλις. ἦ μέγα φημὶ
χῆρον ἀνιᾶσθαι σὸν πόσιν Εὐθυμένη
Timonoe! But who art you? By heaven I would not have recognised thee, had not thy father's name Timotheus and thy city's Methymna stood on the grave-stone. I know of a truth that thy widowed husband Euthymenes is in sore distress.
