Εὐθυμάχων ἀνδρῶν μνησώμεθα, τῶν ὅδε τύμβος,
οἳ θάνον εὔμηλον ῥυόμενοι Τεγέαν,
αἰχμηταὶ πρὸ πόληος, ἵνα σφίσι μὴ καθέληται
Ἑλλὰς ἀποφθιμένου κρατὸς ἐλευθερίαν.
Souvenons nous des vaillants dont voici le tertre et qui moururent en défendant Tégée aux belles brebis, luttant de la lance pour leur ville, de peur que la Grèce ne détruise la liberté de leur tête morte.
