— Paton edition
— Waltz edition
Do not, most noble wayfarer, pass by the tomb hurrying on the way with tireless feet, but look on it, and ask "Who are you, and whence?" So shall you know Harmonia whose family is illustrious in Megara. For in her one could observe all things which bring fame to men, a loveable nobility, a gentle character and virtue. Such was she whose tomb you look; her soul putting off the body strives to gain the paths of heaven.
— Paton modified
Guarda e chiedi, piuttosto: «Chi sei? Di che posto?» Saprai
L'anima scruta ,
spoglia del suo corpo, i tramiti celesti.
