Ψήχει καὶ πέτρην ὁ πολὺς χρόνος, οὐδὲ σιδήρου
φείδεται, ἀλλὰ μιῇ πάντ᾽ ὀλέκει δρεπάνῃ:
ὣς καὶ Λαέρταο τόδ᾽ ἠρίον, ὃ σχεδὸν ἀκτῆς
βαιὸν ἄπο, ψυχρῶν λείβεται ἐξ ὑετῶν.οὔνομα μὴν ἥρωος ἀεὶ νέον οὐ γὰρ ἀοιδὰς

grave-mound of Laertes that is near the shore is
being melted away by the cold rain. But the hero's
name is ever young, for Time cannot, even if he will,
make poesy dim.
