On verra que, pour cette arme, la loi de Sparte-- constance au combat!-- a été parfaitement observée.

Yet though thus hacked all round in his martial hand it was preserved by Nicagoras and preserved Nicagoras. Looking on this shield one shall read the perfect observance of the Spartan law, "Meet undaunted the battle shock."
