Un médecin m'avait envoyé son fils chéri, afin qu'il apprenne près de moi cette science grammaticale. Lorsqu'il eut appris le « Chante la colère », et encore « elle leur valut mille souffrances », et puis à la suite le troisième vers: « il jeta en pâture à l'Hadès tant d'âmes fières de héros », le médecin ne m'envoya plus son fils pour apprendre à mes côtés. M'ayant rencontré un jour, il me dit: « Grand merci, Maître. Toutefois, près de moi, mon fils peut apprendre tout cela; car, moi aussi, à l'Hadès je jette nombre d'âmes en pâture, et pour cela, je n'ai nul besoin de grammairien ».
