οὐ πλεῖν, ἀλλ᾽ ἀντλεῖν ἡμᾶς Εἴκανδρος ὁ πρωρεὺς

εἰς τὴν εἰκόσορον φαίνεται ἐμβιβάσας:
οὐκ ὀλίγον γὰρ ἔνεστιν ὕδωρ ἔσω, ἀλλ᾽ ὁ Ποσειδῶν
ἐν ταύτῃ διαπλεῖν φαίνεται εἰς τὸ πέραν
νῦν πρῶτον ναῦς ὦπται ὑδρωπική, ἀλλά γε [ δείδω]
μὴ σορὸν οὖσαν ἴδῃς τὴν πάλαι εἰκόσορον.
Ce n'est pas pour naviguer, mais pour écoper, c'est évident, qu'Eicandros le timonier nous a fait monter sur son navire à vingt rames! the first time a ship with the dropsy has been seen.
