#1

ἱπποφορβός (‘horse-keeper’) here is an incorrect explanation of the last word of the first verse, καβαλλής (meaning ‘nag’). It is likely that the scholiast did not know the meaning of καβαλλής and therefore made an analogy with βουκόλος, ‘neat-heard’, which describes Phoebus (Φοῖβε) in the epigram. Hence, he believed that καβαλλής was a synonym of ἱπποφορβός, which it is not.
